Second Cup Café: Richie Havens

Second Cup Cafe Richie Havens
Richie Havens visited The Saturday Early Show's Second Cup Café to play some singles from his new CD, "Wishing Well," and some classics he made famous in his decades-long career.

Haven, 61, is recognized for his guitar work and distinct, recognizable voice. 'Wishing Well' is his 26th album.

The Brooklyn native first emerged from the Greenwhich Village folk scene in the early 1960s in New York City.

Haven's career was pushed into a wider audience arena by his legendary three-hour performance at 1969's Woodstock festival. Covering for artists running late for the music festival, Havens improvised the anthemic cry of "Freedom," still one of his most recognizable songs.

Haven's songs such as "Here Comes the Sun" and "Freedom" are, he says, inspired by a lifelong passion to music and community.
