Search for gunmen after 2 LAPD officers shot

LOS ANGELES -- Officials say that two plain-clothes LAPD officers were fired upon in their vehicle near near 65th Street and Broadway just before 6 p.m. Sunday, reports CBS Los Angeles.

Investigators say that the officers fired back, but were unsure if the suspects had been injured. Investigators believe the officers were specifically targeted.

Suffering minor graze wounds, the officers were treated and released from the hospital, officials told the station.

According to the Los Angeles Times, a spokesperson told reporters that after the officers fired back several suspects scattered, but police did detain a number of people in connection with the shooting. She also told reporters that was unknown whether the car was marked as a police vehicle.

The department launched an overnight manhunt, as a SWAT team, armored vehicles, K-9 units and airships searched the area for hours. It reportedly ended early Monday morning, according to the station.

According to CBS Los Angeles, there were no suspects in custody as of Monday morning.
