Scarlett Johansson to direct Truman Capote's "Summer Crossing"

Scarlett Johanssonis bringing Truman Capote's first novel from the page to the screen.

The 28-year-old actress is set to make her directorial debut with a film adaptation of Capote's "Summer Crossing," according to Deadline.

The novel tells the story of Grady, a 17-year old Manhattan socialite who makes difficult romantic decisions during the summer of 1945.

Capote wrote the story in his youth during the late 1940s but eventually shelved the novel. The manuscript was thought to be lost for more than 50 years before it was finally published for the first time in 2005. Johansson says that she's been working closely with the Capote estate over the last several years in bringing the story to life.

And she's not the only Hollywood thesp making a debut behind the camera.

Johansson will co-star with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the upcoming "Don Jon," which will also mark his first time directing a feature-length film.
