"Scarface School Play": How America Got Punk'd by Viral Mastermind Marc Klasfeld

LOS ANGELES (CBS) Since it hit the web on March 29, "Scarface School Play," has garnered over 2.7 million views on YouTube alone. The video, uploaded from "cindymomof6", depicted an elementary school kids production of Scarface and immediately fooled everyone into thinking it was the real deal.

Some thought it was the most hilarious thing they've ever seen and others were simply disgusted. Judge for yourself:

What many didn't know is that the amateur video was just another creation from viral mastermind Marc Klasfeld - the same director behind some of Lady Gaga's music videos and even this MC Hammer YouTube hit released last year.

I recently met with him at his Hollywood office where he shared the inspiration behind the video, why it's stirring up controversy and his tips for going viral.

He also revealed that despite the flare up over the video's contents, the parents of the young actors "couldn't be happier" over its success and he isn't worried about its impact on them.

"I am sure these kids experience worse things in violent video games, or things they have heard from their parents, or their brothers and sisters that are older or even movies and TV shows that they watch," he said.

As for why video blew up so quickly, Klasfeld believes it's unfortdunatly right for the times.

"Most people view America in a state of decline right now," he said. "And this really hits home for them in a way that they think something like this is actually possible in our society, morals have really slipped to this kind of level."
