San Francisco cop posts Facebook video of "drunk" joyride
A San Francisco Police sergeant posted a video on Facebook of a 100-mph joy ride through a tunnel while he and his friends "were all drunk," CBS News affiliate KCBS-TV reports.
The video, first reported by the SFist blog, was posted in September by Carl T of the SFPD and has since been taken down after reports came out. It showed him traveling "100 Miles per hour in the Lambo" through the Broadway tunnel.
KCBS-TV reports the video, taken from the driver's point of view, shows the driver slamming on the gas from the Larking St. stop on the Russian Hill side of the tunnel and zoom toward Chinatown in a 35 mph speed limit zone. The station points out the daytime incident is particularly brazen because the tunnel regularly backs up due to clogged traffic.
Although there's no way to verify the identity of the driver, his sobriety, or the actual speed the car reaches, Facebook comments by friends seem to confirm the authenticity of the video.
"Used to do it regularly on the solos going home off the 1900-0300 watch," wrote Ben Mcalister, who SFist points out is also a member of the SFPD.
Other comments brought up an incident when a motorcyclist was decapitated in the same tunnel while speeding.
Before it was taken offline, the video was made public and ten people were tagged, so it appeared there was no major effort to be discreet about it.
Carl T, formerly known Carl Tannenbaum, previously made news in the SF Weekly for legally changing his name so his entire name wouldn't be put on his badge.
