Russell Brand deported from Japan, wife Katy Perry not happy, says report
(CBS) - British comedian Russell Brand was detained in Japan on Sunday, then deported from the country when authorities discovered his criminal record, a reports says.
Brand was in Tokyo to see his wife, singer Katy Perry, perform in concert.
Brand had been previously arrested on 11 separate occasions, according to RadarOnline.com. Most of the arrests were from over ten years ago for drug offenses and public indecency, reports the site.
Perry and Brand took to twitter to vent.
"So...my husband just got deported from Japan. I am so. Sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favorite place, #tokoyodreamscrushed," Perry tweeted early Sunday morning.
Even when detained, Brand apparently didn't lose his sense of humor.
"Planning escape from Japanese custody," tweeted Brand. "It's bloody hard to dig a tunnel with chopstick."
