"I love doing stand-up because you have a direct interaction with the audience," Brand told Reuters. There is no mediation, no script, no direction. It is my great love. What is it other than telling the truth to human beings that are identical to me?"

The half-hour, once-a-week show finds the British comedian commenting on current events and news stories.

In the first episode, Brand, 37, manages to tackle everything from the Dalai Lama and Mel Gibson, to capitalism and the hiccups

"This show is going be very spontaneous and exciting and a very truthful take on the news," Brand told Time. "It will be in defiance of the proscriptive narrative that we constantly see on TV and in print media."

Along with the series, Brand has a few film projects in the works, including a starring role in "The President Stole My Girlfriend" and a part in  "The Hauntrepreneur," produced by Michael Bay.
