Royals open Oktoberfest in Monaco
Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene threw on traditional outfits and threw back German beer Sunday night as they helped launch the seventh edition of Monaco's annual Oktoberfest.
The two-week extravaganza celebrates not only German beer but also German arts and culture. Costumes and dancing are a large part of the event.
Wearing colorful Bavarian peasant costumes, the royal couple toasted their health, wealth and one year of marriage before gulping down the brew and declaring the annual Oktoberfest officially begun. Oktoberfest continues nightly at the Cafe de Paris in Monaco until Oct. 23
