Rosie Perez Tackles Funny Fight Scene

Actress Rosie Perez knows how to make people laugh.

From the big screen to the stage, Perez has taken on a variety of comedic roles in "Do The Right Thing," "White Men Can't Jump," and "It Can Happen To You." In her latest film, "Pineapple Express," she takes on the comedic role of a corrupt police officer.

"I saw the premiere in L.A. on Thursday and I was laughing from start to finish," Perez told Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith as she laughed. "As soon as I read the script I was like, this is hilarious."

Perez plays a female cop named Carol alongside funnymen James Franco and Seth Rogen in a tale of a stoner and a drug dealer who see a cop commit a murder and are on the run from the police.

The story is based around lazy stoner Dale Denton (Seth Rogen) who visits his equally lazy dealer Saul Silver (James Franco) to buy a particular kind of marijuana, called "Pineapple Express," but the transaction doesn't go as planned.

Denton witnesses a murder by a crooked cop and the city's most dangerous drug lord and in a state of panic; he drops the rare drug at the scene of the crime, thus linking both Denton and Silver to the murder.

"It was nice to work with people who were regular people," she said. "They don't come with pomp and circumstance. It was a blast."

Perez said that she was thrilled to work with director and friend David Gordon Green as well.

The feisty and petite Perez had a funny fight scene in "Pineapple Express," in which she proudly admits that she took over the reigns and did the stunts herself.

"I did a lot of it," she said. "There's only two shots with the stunt (double). After a while I was like get rid of the stunt chick. I'm doing it all. James Franco and I kind of threw away the choreography, too, and went for it. He went for my butt, too! He bit my butt, which wasn't great and it didn't even make the movie and I am kind of pissed off about that."

Although the comical bottom-biting scene won't be shown in the movie, it will be available as an outtake on the DVD.

Besides sacrificing her bottom for comedy, Perez has a guest role on the new TV series "Lipstick Jungle."

"That's brand-new for me," Perez said. "I got a call and she asked me if I would do a guest role on it. I said 'sure.' And now that's turned into four episodes. They're asking me to come back again. And I haven't even completed the fourth."

Perez said that she loves the dynamics and work ethic on the set of "Lipstick Jungle."

"I love the show," she said "I love Brooke Shields, Lindsey Price and Kim Raver. You would think that a bunch of women on a set would breed - 'reer' (Perez makes catfight sound). It doesn't and it's great and I just love it."
