Romney Says McCain Would Lose General In Obama 'Tsunami'
From CBS News Producer Jennifer Yuille:
MANCHESTER, N.H.: Mitt Romney reiterated his mantra that Washington is broken and that he is the Republican candidate for change in an interview with CBS News Anchor Katie Couric.
He continued to portray Arizona Senator John McCain as a Washington insider, and said that if McCain wins the Republican nomination, Senator Barack Obama would win the election in a landslide.
"If we send another, long-term, well-experienced US senator named John McCain to go up against Barack Obama, it'll be a tsunami for Barack Obama. The only way to beat Barack Obama is to put someone up against him who also can speak about change, but who has a record of bringing about change," Romney told Couric.
Romney and McCain are battling for first place in the Granite State. Both candidates are looking for a win here to give their campaigns some much-needed momentum before they head to Michigan and South Carolina.
