"Rock The Bells" Summer Festival Includes Wu-Tang Clan, Lauryn Hill
NEW YORK (CBS) Hip hop takes to the stage as the seventh-annual "Rock The Bells" festival series makes its way across the United States this summer.
Renowned Staten Island, N.Y. hip hop collective Wu-Tang Clan is the big headliner this year and will perform its 1993 landmark debut "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)" in its entirety.
Multiple Grammy award-winner Lauryn Hill is slated to appear as a "special guest," though her role in the festival is not entirely specified.
Other noted performers are "Golden Era" hip hop legends Rakim and KRS-One who will perform music from their seminal works, "Paid In Full" and "Criminal Minded," respectively.
The four-city trek will kick off Aug. 21 in San Bernardino, Calif., making its way through San Francisco (Aug. 22), New York (Aug. 28), and closing in Washington, D.C. (Aug. 29).
A portion of the proceeds from the four shows will go to Haiti relief efforts through the Hip-Hop and Hope for Haiti organization. Upcoming ticket sales will be announced at rockthebells.net.
