Report: Obamas plan to rent home in northwest DC after White House

Even though President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama aren't leaving the White House for about eight months, they are already scouting out their next home.

According to a National Journal report, the Obamas are planning to rent a home in the Kalorama neighborhood in the northwest quadrant of Washington, D.C., just east of Massachusetts Avenue.

Their younger daughter, Sasha, will still be attending Sidwell Friends School after Obama's administration. It's unclear where they will move once she graduates.

The report said the White House is not revealing the exact house they selected, but the report lays out several possibilities such as the former house that a Syrian ambassador lived in at 2447 Kalorama Road and there's a house for lease at 10 Kalorama Circle with fencing in the front.

Either way, Kalorama is a short walk away from the Dupont Circle neighborhood, and wouldn't be far from the White House either. It also wouldn't be a far walk from former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton's house near Embassy Row.

Mr. Obama would be the first president to stay in D.C. since Woodrow Wilson left the White House in 1921.
