Report: Middle school student forced to eat trash

A middle school student in China was forced to eat trash by a bully who pressed the girl's face into a trash bin by stepping on the back of her neck, People's Daily Online reported.

The video shows the victim being forced to pick trash out of a bin and put it in her mouth. Then the apparent bully forces the victim to drop to her knees and press her face into the garbage repeatedly.

As kids shout, multiple people record the incident on mobile phones.

Liu Yonggang, headmaster of the school, told Dushi Channel that the two pupils were aged 13 and 14, according to the Daily Mail..

The girls' parents were called to the school shortly after the incident. The bully's parents reportedly apologized to the victim and reached a settlement with her parents.

Psychological support was offered by the school and Wang reportedly received a demerit. Some people commented online that the punishment should have been stiffer.

The effects of childhood bullying can last well into adulthood, causing depression and anxiety, recent studies have shown.

Bullying in China's schools has become a seemingly widespread problem as videos of student-on-student abuse continue to surface.
