Report: Divers search near home where N.Y. millionaire's wife died
NEW YORK -- Police divers were seen Monday scouring a reservoir near the North Salem, N.Y., home where the wife of a millionaire McDonald's franchise owner was found killed on Nov. 9, according to the Journal-News.
The newspaper reports that police have not said what they are looking for, but have confirmed that it is part of the investigation into the death of Lois Colley, who died of blunt force trauma.
Colley was found in the laundry room on her 300-acre estate. There were no signs of forced entry and the only thing missing from her home was a fire extinguisher.
In the days since, state police have swarmed the estate, using police dogs and helicopters in their search for evidence.
State police told 48 Hours' Crimesider on November 12 that Colley's immediate family -- including her husband Eugene, who amassed a fortune in a growing empire of more than 100 McDonald's franchises -- has cooperated with the investigation, and none are considered suspects.
