Record Quick and Easy Screencasts with ScreenCastle
A screencast is a recording of everything that happens on your screen -- great for those times when you want to create a tutorial, demo a new site, or whatever.
ScreenCastle lets you whip up screencasts in a flash. Just head to the site, click the big red button, and then make any desired changes to the site of the recording window. (You'll need to have Java installed if it isn't already.) Here's an example:
When you're done recording, ScreenCastle uploads the file (an FLV) from your PC, then serves up a boatload of distribution codes: a Web link, a direct link to the recording (which is saved in FLV format), an embed code, and so on. Just copy the one(s) you need.
You can record screencasts of any length, but because you can't edit them afterward, ScreenCastle is probably best for short subjects.
Hopefully that's a beta kink that'll get worked out soon. I like ScreenCastle's speed, simplicity, and installation-free operation. That said, you might be better off with ScreenToaster, a similar service that Dave has used for various screencasts right here on Business Hacks. [via Webware]
