Rearview Mirror for the Office Lets you Know Who's Behind You

These days, I have my own office, and I've positioned the desk so I can see people approaching the door. Not co-incidentally, that orients my monitor so passersby can't see the screen. Not everyone is so lucky, though. If your back is to the door, or you sit in a cubicle where it's easy to be constantly ambushed, then you might want to defend yourself with a rearview mirror.

ThinkGeek is selling the C.H.I.M.P Rearview Monitor Mirror -- a mirror that attaches to the side of your monitor with Velcro and lets you see everything going on behind your back. You get two 3-inch convex mirrors. (What does C.H.I.M.P stand for? Don't waste any time wondering -- it's not worth asking, really.)

If your boss objects to a mirror hanging from your monitor, or you don't want to spend $8 on such a potentially goody office hack, consider positioning a pair of mirrored sunglasses on top of your display. The reflection should give you at least as good of a view of the rear as these mirrors. [via Lifehacker]
