"Random" gunman wounds Miss. high school coach, kills wife
(CBS/WCBI/AP) NEW ALBANY, Miss. - Authorities are looking for a gunman who opened fire at the home of New Albany High School's football coach Ron Price, killing his wife and wounding the coach.
CBS affiliate WCBI reports New Albany, Miss. police say Amanda Price was shot to death as she took the family dog out to the backyard. According to officials, she apparently startled someone who was outside, then screamed, before being hit by gunfire.
Ron Price is said to have rushed out, responding to the screams, and was shot in the shoulder. The shooting took place just before 10 p.m. Monday, Police Chief David Grisham said.
Amanda Price was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, from an apparent gunshot wound in her back. Ron Price went through surgery and was released.
The couple's daughter who was inside the house at the time of the incident was not injured.
Ron Price had just completed his fourth season as head football coach. Amanda Price also worked in the New Albany school system, approximately 80 miles southeast of Memphis, Tenn. as a speech pathologist.
Fox News reports police said they have no suspects and at this point believe it was a random shooting.
A $20,000 reward is being offered for more information on the deadly incident.
