A San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy found two men stripping the car in Victorville, Calif., about xxx miles from Hollywood, on April 18.
The deputy ran the VIN number on the car and discovered it linked to a vehicle in Oakland.
Then police in Oakland looked into it and realized the number had been cloned and the car was, in fact, Tarantino's.
The man who owned the vehicle is not believed to be connected with the theft.
It was unclear if Chevy Malibu had been returned to Tarantino.
