Print Without Wires: Brother HL-2170W Laser Reviewed

brother-hl-2170w.jpgIf you're in the market for a new laser printer, cut the cord with the Brother HL-2170w. I've had one on my desk for the last few weeks, and I can't find a single bad thing to say about it.

Actually, I've had it sitting in an unused corner of my office, far away from my desk and all the clutter therein. And that's the beauty of this printer: It's wireless, meaning I can plunk it anywhere within range of my Wi-Fi router. It'll work in a corner, a closet, or even another room -- anywhere there's an AC outlet. It may not sound like a big deal, but trust me: Once you've experienced wireless printing, you'll never want to touch another parallel or USB cable.

The HL-2170W also has USB and Ethernet interfaces, just in case you're working in a non-wireless zone. It churns out razor-sharp pages at a zippy 23 per minute, at least according to Brother -- it managed more like 19 ppm in my tests. The printer comes with a 250-sheet input tray and measures an uber-compact 14.5 x 14.2 x 6.7 inches. It retails for $149.99, but Best Buy currently has it on sale for $99.99. Great little laser for home- and small-office environments.
