Pranks, no thanks: Cop not amused by "wet Willy"

MANKATO, Minn. - To some, it may seem like nothing more than a childish prank -- but not to a Minnesota police officer who was on the receiving end of a "wet Willy."

Actually, make that two "wet Willys."

A former Kiester, Minn. man accused of licking his fingers and poking a Mankato cop in both ears pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor - disruptive intoxication - to avoid a felony charge, CBS affiliate KEYC reported.

The officer said 24-year-old Riley Swearingen assaulted him with the so-called "wet Willy'' while waiting in line to ride the late night bus, after Swearingen had been out drinking early Saturday.

He spent three days in jail after prosecutors charged him with assaulting a police officer with bodily fluids.

Police Cmdr. Jeremy Clifton told KEYC, "We have... improper touching from one person to another without consent...whch leads to the credibility of assault. But we also have bodily fluids, and a bodily fluid contact from this individual to a police officer while on duty; reaching the level.. Well at least fits the statute of 4th degree assault."

Swearingen was initially charged with felony 4th degree assault, 5th degree assault and disruptive intoxication, before pleading guilty to the latter charge. He apologized to a judge Monday in accepting the plea deal.

Prosecutors say his blood alcohol content was 0.18 at the time of the "wet Willy" incident, more than twice the legal limit for driving.

Swearingen was visiting Mankato while on leave from a U.S. Air Force base in Goldsboro, N.C.
