Power Restored at Cleveland Airport

Last Updated 3:32 p.m. ET

Power has been restored at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport where the status of scheduled Sunday flights remained uncertain.

Power went out about 6:50 a.m. Sunday. Continental and US Airways canceled flights until 6 p.m.

FirstEnergy Corp. spokeswoman Tricia Ingraham says crews were able to replace a pole that caught on fire and knocked out electrical lines to the airport early Sunday morning.

The repair meant power was restored to the airport about three hours earlier than originally expected.

Airport spokeswoman Jackie Mayo says passengers should check with individual airlines to see if any flights will resume Sunday.

Mayo said earlier in the day that once power was returned it would take a while for airport operations after that to resume.

An outage at Reagan National Airport outside Washington, D.C., on Jan. 4 also grounded flights for about an hour.
