Portia de Rossi Wants to Take Ellen DeGeneres' Name

NEW YORK (CBS) Portia de Rossi is seeking to legally take wife Ellen DeGeneres' last name.

The actress is seeking to change her name to Portia Lee James DeGeneres, according to a petition filed Friday in L.A. County Superior Court.

The papers, TMZ.com reported, state the reason for the name change as, "Petitioner is taking the last name of her spouse."

The change won't be official until a hearing scheduled for Sept. 23 takes place, according to People magazine.

The talk show host and the "Arrested Development" actress married in August 2008.
