Poll: Myers Surging In Indiana's 7th District
An internal poll conducted for the campaign of Woodrow Myers in Indiana's 7th District indicates the Democratic primary in the Indianapolis-area district appears to be tightening. Myers is facing newly elected Rep. Andre Carson (D-Ind.) and several other Democratic candidates in the May 6 primary.
Carson recently won the special election to represent the Indianapolis district after the passing of his grandmother, former Rep. Julia Carson. According to the Myers campaign, one month ago, in the wake of Carson's election, Myers trailed 45 percent to 11 percent. He has picked up 17 points and is now down 34 percent to 28 percent in the poll of 402 likely voters, conducted by the Global Strategy Group.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is backing Carson.
Correction: An earlier version of this post incorrectly described Rep. Andre Carson as the son of the late Rep. Julia Carson. The post has been corrected.
