Police: Suspect in North Carolina murder arrested in Florida

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Police say a man sought in the death of a Fayetteville man has been arrested in Florida.

Media outlets report that 23-year-old Damien Scott Boyd was arrested Sunday morning by the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Authorities say he is awaiting extradition to North Carolina on charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a deadly weapon.

It wasn't immediately known if Boyd had an attorney.

Lt. David McLaurin of the Fayetteville Police previously told media outlets that the body of 37-year-old Hanee Heron Boyd was found Feb. 9 in a wooded area. An autopsy revealed Byrd had been shot to death.

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact Fayetteville Police.
