Police say man stabbed psychiatrist to death in Delaware home

HOCKESSIN, Del.-- Police have charged a 21-year-old man with first-degree murder of a 55-year-old psychiatrist found dead inside her Delaware home.

According to police, Christopher Frick killed Caroline Ekong, who he "was familiar with the victim through a professional interaction."

Frick allegedly planned this incident for some time and early Thursday morning left his residence and parked his vehicle in a lot nearby.

Frick then entered the residence and confronted Ekong and then stabbed her numerous times before fleeing on foot.

New Castle County Police responded Ekong's home in Sanford Ridge after a family member called 9-1-1 and reported that she had just discovered her mother.

He then called police to confess what he had done and was taken into custody.

According to the Washington Post, Police Chief Elmer Setting said at a news conference that evidence indicated Frick was obsessed with Ekong.

Frick was charged with murder, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, home invasion, burglary, and possession of burglary tools. He was committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution without bail on the murder charge and $143,000 cash bail on the rest of the charges.
