Police: Mass. middle school teacher stole drugs, money in armed robbery

(CBS/WBZ) BILLERICA, Mass. - Police arrested a middle school teacher in northwestern Mass. on charges of armed robbery Tuesday.

Jennifer Horton, 27, a social studies and English teacher at Marshall Middle School in Billerica, is accused of sticking a gun in the face of a 54-year-old man to steal prescription drugs and money, reports CBS station WBZ.

"It's absolutely horrifying, especially being in a relatively small town. You don't expect if from these teachers... It's baffling," said Kerrie O'Brien, a parent.

WBZ reports Horton was with a male accomplice in a car in Worcester on Friday when they robbed the victim, who was sitting in the back seat. Horton's accomplice, who is reportedly acquainted with the victim, then searched the 54-year-old and took cash and his medication, police said.

The victim said Horton's accomplice pepper sprayed him, but he was still able to get out of the car and walk home, WBZ reports.

Parents whose kids have Horton as a teacher were told Tuesday that that she has been place on paid administrative leave. Police are still searching for the accomplice.
