Police: Teen found shot dead outside Houston church
HOUSTON - Police say a teenager was found fatally shot in a Houston church parking lot over the weekend.
The 19-year-old was discovered by a groundskeeper at about 7 a.m. Sunday before services at Spring Woods Baptist Church. Police tell The Houston Chronicle the teen had been shot execution-style and suffered two gunshot wounds to his face. His wallet, cellphone and other belongings weren't taken.
CBS affiliate KHOU reports family and friend identified the victim as Rikko Armando Valencia.
Police say the teen had left his job at a Whataburger restaurant around 4:30 a.m. and had taken a shortcut through the church parking lot.
"We don't really know what happened, but someone shot him in the face and killed him," Houston Police Homicide Det. Latonia Bailey told the station.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Houston Police Dept. at (713) 884-3131.
