Police: First responder may have stolen from crash victim

LONGMONT, Colo. -- Police are investigating claims that cash was taken from a victim in a deadly September car crash, reports CBS Denver.

After the Sept. 23 two-car accident, which killed both drivers and left others with minor injuries, one of the victim's family members told police that cash had gone missing from the woman's purse.

Investigators in Longmont, Colo., have have ruled out witnesses and the general public. They say whoever took the money did it after officials secured the crash scene.

Police have not said how much was stolen.

"We have made a list of who had access to the purse and we're talking to everybody who had access," said Boulder County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Heidi Prentup.

Officials have not yet identified a suspect.
