Police: Ala. teen, 14, dead after Facebook spat

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Police say they have two teenage males in custody following the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old girl during a fight over Facebook at a park on Friday, reported CBS affiliate WIAT.

Police were called to the scene by a person who had been shot and arrived around 6:15 p.m. on Friday, according to the station. The 14-year-old victim with life-threatening injuries was transported to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.

The victim was identified as Kierra'onna Rice, reported WIAT.

Two other victims with gunshot wounds were transported to another hospital, according to the station.

A police spokesperson told reporters that the incident happened as a result of a conflict between a group of girls on Facebook. The girls -- including the victim -- had agreed to meet up and fight at a local park.

The girls began fighting as soon as they arrived on Friday, according to WIAT. Police say that two male suspects pulled out their guns and began shooting at the girls.

A 17-year-old and 19-year-old were taken into custody and positively identified by witnesses, reported the station.

Investigators believed that one of the suspects may have been dating one of the girls that fought with the victim.
