PlayStation 3 super-slim model may be in the works

(CBS News) Sony may be working on a super slim PlayStation 3 - at least that's what recent documents suggest.

Initially picked up by the Japanese website Pocket New, the documents reveal that Sony filed paperwork Tuesday with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission that suggests it may be planning a slimmer PS3.

It's been speculated that the FCC documents are for an updated PS3 because of the model number - CECH-4001x. The current PS3 falls under model number CECH-3000x.

Sony has not announced plans for a new console in 2012. The original PS3 came out in November 2006.
