Phyllis Diller Won't Let Injury Stop Her

Phyllis Diller is still cracking jokes as she turns 90 — even after cracking her back.

"I still take the Pill 'cause I don't want anymore grandchildren," Diller joked.

It's one of the age-related jokes Diller had planned to dish out Tuesday during a birthday appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

But Diller fractured a bone in her back last week by twisting while lifting a heavy item, she told The Associated Press in a recent interview.

She had to postpone her appearance; the show sent her a get-well bouquet of white roses.

She still planned on celebrating her birthday. Three events were planned, including a Tuesday dinner and a party for 50 people on Saturday.

But Diller will not be doing any routines. She's using a wheelchair while recovering and "you can't do standup sitting down," she said.
