Petra Nemcova: Supermodel survives to dance again
(CBS) - The 12th season of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" will feature, among others, Czech supermodel Petra Nemcova, who had to learn to walk again after a serious injury.
While there are a number of notable faces on the new season - including Wendy Williams and Kirstie Alley - it will be particularly poignant to see Nemcova dance after her near-death experience in the Indonesian tsunami of 2004.

The 31-year-old model was on a shoot in Thailand with her fiance Simon Atlee when the tsunami struck. Atlee was killed and Nemcova suffered a broken pelvis in addition to severe internal injuries. She was airlifted out of the wreckage and went through months of intensive care while learning walk again.
Earlier that year, the blonde model was the cover girl of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue. She has modeled for Victoria's Secret and has also appeared on the covers of Elle, Glamour and Cosmopolitan.
Now Nemcova can not only walk again, she can dance, too. At least that's the hope as she prepares for a season of ballroom dancing.
