Pa. explosion injures 1, triggers homicide probe
FAWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Homicide detectives and are investigating a Fawn Township, Pa., explosion that left one man severely injured Tuesday evening, reports CBS affiliate KDKA.
A barrel exploded around 4:30 p.m., behind a garage at Graff Trucking, police said.
The victim, who police say is in his 50s, reportedly has severe lacerations to his face. He was flown to Allegheny General Hospital, and authorities say he may not survive.
Police say he is not an employee of Graff Trucking and was there to visit the owner, who is a friend.
"He was outside the garage area doing some work," said Fawn Township Police Chief Timothy Mayberry. "An explosion happened, I believe it was a 55-gallon drum. We don't know what kind of fuel was in it, all we know was there was an explosion."
The county fire marshal is trying to determine the cause of the explosion.
