House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), in a speech this afternoon to the Democratic National Committee, did not comment on Thursday's assertion by Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) that the U.S. military "surge is working" in Iraq.
She did note that the House recently passed a non-binding timetable for withdrawal, adding: “We know the best way to help our troops and support our troops is to bring them home honorably, responsibly, safely and soon.”
Pelosi gave her speech, then left the building without speaking to reporters, Politico's Ben Smith, who's at the DNC event, told the Crypt.
According to her office, Pelosi did tape an interview with CNN on Friday.
