Newman, who died back in 2008, narrated a special tribute for the legendary star back a few years ago for Turner Classic Movies. He was one of Taylor's many co-stars throughout her career.
"What can you say about a legend?" begins Newman, "So much has been written, so much has already been said for so many years about Elizabeth Taylor. Is there anything left to say?"
"She practically grew up in front of the camera," says the Oscar winner and continues on that her perfect life had its flaws, "Her life has not been easy or private one but a series of tribulations, serious illnesses, senseless tragedy and lost love."
Following the death of her husband Mike Todd, Taylor was devastated though during the filming of their movie "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," Taylor told Newman that, "playing Maggie the Cat saved her."
"Not only is she a phenomenal actress," he says, speaking not only on Taylor's film contribution but her input into humanitarian efforts, "but she is also a generous human being and one who cherishes and works with her friendships. She gives her talent and time unselfishly."
He ended the tribute saying, "What can you say about a legend? Elizabeth Taylor is a courageous survivor, a hell of an actress and someone that I am extremely proud to know."
