Park Accident Results In Death
A roller coaster accident at Paramount King's Dominion resulted in a death Monday night, but officials at the theme park released few details.
The death of the unidentified person involved the Shockwave ride at the theme park north of Richmond, according to WWBT television. The standup roller coaster travels at speeds up to 50 mph for about two minutes and goes over several loops.
A spokeswoman for King's Dominion confirmed a fatality but did not immediately provide any other information. The investigation is continuing, and the spokeswoman said a statement about what happened would be released later.
King's Dominion is one of Virginia's most popular tourist sites, attracting as many as 2.3 million visitors a year.
