Mobile medical information company Skyscape has been sold to Physicians Interactive. Skyscape’s service lets healthcare workers look up specialized medical information and receive medical alerts from their mobile phones or tablet PCs. It competes with similar services from both Thomson Reuters and Epocrates. The company says it has a user base of more than one million medical practitioners.
Physicians Interactive is a digital marketing firm that targets doctors via a number of services and in a statement it said the purchase of Skyscape would double the size of its network of physicians. No financial terms of the deal were disclosed. Physicians Interactive was bought by private equity fund Perseus last year and it has since also purchased online drug sampling firm MedManage Systems.
