(CBS/AP) BRIDGEWATER, Pa. - Police have charged a western Pennsylvania man with driving drunk and leading them on a short chase - on an electric scooter.

The Beaver County Times reports that 46-year-old Scott Schweitzer was charged by police in Bridgewater, about 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, after he was seen driving the scooter in a park after hours on Oct. 15.

Police say Schweitzer refused to stop and drove the scooter home as the officer ran after him. Police say Schweitzer smelled of alcohol, was unsteady on his feet, and that his blood-alcohol level was later determined to be nearly three times the legal limit.

Schweitzer faces a preliminary hearing Nov. 22 on charges including drunken driving and attempting to elude police.

Sounds like he needs a faster scooter.
