Pa. father and 10-year-old son dead, mother injured in apparent murder-suicide, police say
(CBS/AP) PHILADELPHIA - Police say they are investigating a shooting that killed a 10-year-old boy and his father and injured his mother as a possible murder-suicide.
According to CBS Philly, police received a call at around 1 a.m. Friday about a man with a gun inside a home in the northwest section of the city.
As authorities arrived at the scene, they reportedly heard gunshots coming from the home. Officers immediately went inside and found a 41-year-old woman with two gunshot wounds to the back of her head.
Police said the woman was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition but was able to speak with investigators.
The body of a 10-year-old boy was found in his bed with a gunshot to the head, and a 48-year-old man was found on the floor next to him with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, according to CBS Philly.
Investigators reportedly said the man was the boy's father. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman, who is the mother of the boy and wife of the alleged shooter, is expected to survive. Two other people were at the home at the time of the shooting but were not hurt, reports the station.
The names of the victims weren't immediately released pending notification of their relatives.
