On Twitter, Piers Morgan denies hacking phones

(CBS) The News of the World hacking scandal and testimony of James Murdoch, Rupert Murdoch and Rebekah Brooks has had no shortage of news coverage Tuesday - and no shortage of drama, including Rupert Murdoch apparently being hit with what's been called a "foam pie."

On the social media front, some of the most interesting tweets have come from Piers Morgan, the host of CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight, who calls Brooks "a great, and loyal friend." Morgan has been defending himself via Twitter against an MP's claim that he boasted of hacking. "That MP just claimed I boasted in my book of using phone-hacking for a scoop," tweeted Morgan. "Complete nonsense. Just read the book."

Moments later, Morgan wrote, "I've never hacked a phone, told anyone to hack a phone, or published any stories based on the hacking of a phone." In other words, that's an unequivocal denial.

He ended that thread with, "I wrote in my book that someone warned me phones could be hacked, so I changed my pin number. That's it."

Morgan will appear on Wolf Blitzer's show, "The Situation Room," Tuesday night.
