Obama to Deliver State of the Union on Jan. 27

(CBS)
President Obama will deliver his first State of the Union address on Jan. 27, the White House confirms to CBS News.

The president typically gives the annual speech before a joint session of Congress in late January, but the date of this year's State of the Union was in flux earlier this month, as the White House waited for Democrats to wrap up their health care reform deliberations.

Health care legislation is still pending, but the date of the speech is now set. The president's address will be broadcast live on national television and will be streamed live on www.WhiteHouse.gov.

Fans of the television drama "Lost" were concerned by reports the speech would fall on Feb. 2, the date of the show's season premiere, and launched Internet protests against the scheduling conflict.
