Obama adds Maryland to final-stretch campaign stops
President Obama will travel just outside of the capital on Sunday as he forges ahead with his campaign to energize before next month's midterms the increasingly limited batch of Democrats who've not yet abandoned his cause.
The president will stump in Prince George's County for Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown, Maryland's Democratic gubernatorial candidate who's maintained a lead against his Republican opponent Larry Hogan, albeit a much narrower one than expected. Brown has stumbled in recent weeks defending his role in the state's botched health care rollout.
Democratic officials confirmed to CBS News that Brown entreated Mr. Obama's help as he heads into the final stretch of his race to man the helm of the Old Line State.
Mr. Obama's campaign schedule for the weeks leading up to the Nov. 4 election centers heavily on blue states, where onetime supporters of the president's initial and reelection campaigns have become somewhat disenchanted. This weekend, he's slated to return to his home town of Chicago to drum up support for Gov. Pat Quinn.
Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Maine are also stops on the president's tour this month.
