CBS

(CBS/AP) NEW YORK - Authorities say 25 people were shot in a 48-hour period over the weekend in New York City.

Among the boroughs, only Staten Island emerged from the weekend without a shooting report.

The attacks include three fatalities on Saturday, another three on Sunday, a triple shooting in Brooklyn and another, separate shooting in Brooklyn that left an 11-year-old girl severely injured, CBS New York reports.

A person of interest in the triple shooting is in custody, according to the station, and a 17-year-old was arrested in connection with the shooting of the 11-year-old.

The two days of bloodshed represents 5 percent of this year's roughly 440 shootings.

That total is still a 23 percent decline from the total of 574 people shot through this time last year.

Anyone with information about any of the shootings is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577 TIPS, visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or text their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
