Norway's Rebecca Black, Nice Guys finish last and more in our Friday viral video round-up
(CBS/What's Trending) - It's Friday. You know you've gotta get down on Friday, right? A young chanteuse named Rebecca Black taught us that. Americans aren't the only ones with a much-maligned YouTube music sensation, though. Meet Tonje Langeteig, Norway's answer to Rebecca, in our Viral Friday video round-up.
Who wants to be a crappy housewife? Not this girl. Tonje Langeteig is, from what we can tell, for real. She's also... not the most talented tool in the shed. Our pals over at The Feed call it an "awesomely awful jam." The joke may be on us, though, because this video is primed to blow up online.
Also, the rap solo is pretty dope.
People have been saying "nice guys finish last" for as long as there have been nice guys. Kevin Wu, Chester See and Ryan Higa came the conclusion that the only hope for nice guys is to not be, well, nice. And then they made a song about it that's been viewed over two million times online.
International music collective Playing for Change put together this incredible cover of the Rolling Stone's "Gimme Shelter" that literally spans the world. As the group describes it, "This song expresses the urgency we all face to unite together as a planet and offers us wisdom with the words, 'War, children it's just a shot away... Love, sister, it's just a kiss away.'" Check out their website HERE to learn more.
So we've looked at the good, the bad, and the humanitarian. Now let's listen to a track that's just plain weird. Middle school was a tough time for many of us, but hopefully we didn't all react the way the character in this song does. Rachel Bloom has been a YouTube hit for a while now, but this may just be her oddest song to date.
Thanks again to The Feed for the excellent videos.
