No Superwoman, But A Happy One

Many women have a wish list that includes romance, nice things and a better life, and can't seem to ever achieve happiness.

So in her new book, "Things Will Get As Good as You Can Stand: When You Learn that It Is Better to Receive than to Give," best-selling author, Laura Doyle tells women how to start living a better life.

Doyle is best known for her 2001 book, "The Surrendered Wife," in which she stated that in order for a woman to be happy in her marriage, she needs to give up control to her husband. Now, with her new book, Doyle is telling women they have to stop trying to be superwoman and graciously receive help and compliments from others.

She says that by maintaining a façade of strength and control, women stand in the way of their own happiness.

She explains why she believes so in her book, "Things Will Get As Good as You Can Stand" and talks about it on Thursday's The Early Show.

She advises her readers to:

  • Take all the help you can get.
  • Learn to say thank you.
  • Give up guilt
  • Fill your own cup first.
  • Say what you want.
  • Never complain.
  • Let a man support you.
