No Snub This Time...
There was no snub this time.
Not even close.
It was all love--or so it seemed--for Sens. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and even Edward Kennedy on Wednesday as the senators took a small break from the campaign trail and showed up for a critical vote on the economic stimulus package.
Here's the play-by-play:
After casting her vote, Clinton engages in a little chit chat with Sen. Dianne Feinstein, (D-Calif.) when Kennedy (D-Mass.) approaches. Clinton and Kennedy exchange a handshake and a hearty chuckle which wafts through the chamber. But hold a minute--uh oh--Obama has just spotted Clinton and he's heading in her direction. We brace ourselves for the most awkward moment of the week when... Obama reaches for Clinton's arm with a friendly, "Hi Hillary."
And then, things get, well, downright friendly. Clinton turns to Obama and exclaims, "I had a big sigh of relief when he endorsed you," she tells him, totally breaking the ice. Yuks everywhere--including in the press gallery above.
They continue to talk until Obama walks off to ham it up with Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.).
Big sigh of relief. Huge.
