No Injuries As Senators' Chopper Makes Emergency Landing In Afghanistan

Three U.S. senators were part of an emergency helicopter landing in Afghanistan today, but there were no injuries reported and the senators have continued on with their Middle East trip.

Sens. Joe Biden (D-Del.), Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.) and John Kerry (D-Mass.), on a trip to Afghanistan, had to make an emergency landing due to weather conditions, according to Senate sources. There were no injuries and the landing had nothing to do with the ongoing violence in the country.

The Afghanistan stop was part of a recess-week fact finding trip to India, Pakistan and Turkey. The senators continued on to their stop in Bagram Air Force base.
