No Charges For Streisand Pest

No charges will be filed against a freelance photographer accused of tailing Barbra Streisand and her husband, actor James Brolin, over the weekend. Prosecutors cited a lack of evidence of "credible threat," reports CBS Station KCBS-TV in Los Angeles.

Wendall Ivar Wall, 28, was arrested Saturday afternoon and held on $1 million bail after Streisand and Brolin flagged down a deputy on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. Before his arrest, Wall allegedly had been following the couple for more than two hours that day.

The decision pleased a handful of Wall's supporters who showed up at the Malibu courthouse Tuesday morning, holding picket signs and chanting "Free Wendall."

His father, Malibu resident Gene Wall, claims his son's arrest was "political," designed to get even with him, Gene Wall. He says he used to work for Streisand as a decorator (something she denies) until they had a falling out. The elder Wall said he may file a lawsuit over the ordeal.

But Dick Guttman, Streisand's publicist, says the famous couple "felt jeopardized. The police felt that sense of jeopardy was warranted, and they acted accordingly."

After being freed from jail, Wall said he would continue to try and get pictures of Streisand. "I'm still going to take her picture. This is not going to stop me. It's my job."

Asked if he felt like a winner over the case, Wall said, "Well, I couldn't really say that after sitting in jail for four days. That's not really being a winner."
