The update is said to include a major overhaul that will make the video game console more geared toward watching television. The most anticipated features include 26 live cable channels from Verizon FiOS. Kinect is also getting better voice control integration with Bing search.

Hryb updated eager fans five times since this morning's tweet.

"We are still working to get the release out. Stay tuned, we'll have an update this afternoon (PT) on when it will begin rolling out," Hryb tweeted at 12:20 p.m. EST.

An hour later there was still no news.

"No new information to report yet. My earlier update is still the most current," Hryb tweeted at 1:53 p.m. EST.

Microsoft announced the partnership in October and presented an impressive list of entertainment partnerships, including HBO, Bravo and SyFy.

Verizon is also offering a special bundle for Xbox owners. From now until January 21, new customers who sign up for FiOS TV, FiOS 35/35 Mbps Internet and Verizon voice will also get a 12-month Xbox Live Gold membership and a copy of the "Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary" video game. Plans start at $89.99 per month.
