New Words Of Fall
What books should readers be looking for this fall? Cosmopolitan's senior book editor John Searles provided his picks for The Early Show. This fall, as publishers trot out their blockbuster books as well as works by new authors, hunker down in the chill with a good book:
Drowning Ruth by Christina Schwarz. Searles explains the book chronicles the story of two sisters: A World War I nurse returns to her family's home to have her sister mysteriously drown.
Diamond Dogs by Alan Watt. This first novel by Watt follows a high school bully who accidentally kills someone; Searles describes it as a general interest book with appeal for men and women.
The Switch by Sandra Brown. Prolific writer Brown penned a thriller about identical twins in a case of mistaken identity, Searles says.
Murder Among Friends by The Adams Round Table Group. The book allows readers to sample a collection by a group of mystery and suspense writers, Searles explains.
Natural Blonde by Liz Smith. Searles describes the work by the gossip colunnist as "a name dropper's dream." Click here to read a recent interview of the author.
Change Me Into Zeus's Daughter by Barbara Robinette Moss. The author, who grew up poor in rural Alabama, writes about her struggles to deal with disfigurement resulting from malnutrition, Searles explains.
The Last River by Todd Balf. This book, about an expedition on a Tibetan river, will appeal to those who enjoy Into Thin Air or adventure books, Searles adds.
